The bay of Marsa Bareika penetrates the land for about 2.5 km, forming the Ras Mohamed peninsula. Only few areas are allowed for diving, most areas of the bay are prohibited for access from shore and from seaside. The reef is a gentle sandy slope with many coral pinnacles that create superior coral gardens frequented by a great number of reef fish and some sea turtles. Inside Marsa Bareika sea turtles got a protected bay where they can lay their eggs without being disturbed.
